The Municipality advertises for all positions as they become available. You can watch for Municipal job postings on this website and in local newspapers. The Municipality does not take applications when there are no positions available.
 
When any of the opportunities on the horizon in the District come to fruition there will immediately be new job opportunities.  For example, the Melford Terminal will create 200 direct full time jobs, and as many as 1,500 in the related logistics park. In the resource sectors and tourism, there are also opportunities.
 

ELECTION ENUMERATORS
8 POSITIONS
 

The Municipality of the District of Guysborough, is seeking 8 (eight) organized, detail-oriented individuals to act as
Enumerators in each of the eight existing Municipal Districts. Eight candidates will be selected (one to enumerate each
District). The purpose of enumeration is to compile a complete list of residents who are eligible to vote in the October 15,
2016 Municipal & School Board Elections. 

Eligible applicants must be: 

• Organized, thorough and detail-oriented
• Proficient with computers 
• Able to adhere to confidentiality measures (Take Oath)
• Willing to travel/have access to reliable transportation
• Resident in the District you are applying for (in order to ensure familiarity with the area)

Training is provided and experience working elections is preferred but not required. 

House to house enumeration will begin on Monday, June 13th, 2016 and will be completed by Friday, June 24th, 2016.

ADMINISTRATOR/DIRECTOR OF CARE
MANAGEMENT POSITION
CANSO SEASIDE MANOR 

 
The Canso Seaside Manor has an opening for the position of Administrator/Director of Care at the Manor. This position is a 2 (two) year term (with possibility of becoming permanent). The normal working hours are between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional evening and weekend work as required. 
 
DUTIES: Responsible for the planning, organization, and direction of the operation of the Manor ensuring the needs of residents are met.  Financial planning and accountability, supervision and scheduling of employees, control and management of inventory, planning and supervision of programs and services, application and implementation of established policies, for ensuring that licensing and regulatory requirements are current. The Administrator maintains effective liaison between the governing Board of the Home; Staff, including Medical Staff and outside Agencies involved in the Home’s operations; as well ensures that the Home operates smoothly on a day to day basis. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:  
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience, or a Diploma in Nursing with a minimum of 7 years clinical experience
• Registered Nurse in the Province of Nova Scotia
• Experience at a senior management level in Long Term Care an asset
