African Heritage Month

WHEREAS since 1976, Canada and in particular Nova Scotia has recognized February as “African Heritage Month”

AND WHEREAS acknowledging and celebrating African Heritage Month helps people to understand the many achievements and contributions people of African descent both now and historically have made to this nation and in particular this province of Nova Scotia;
AND WHEREAS paying tribute to African Heritage Month allows us to break down many racial barriers and contribute to promoting racial harmony within our communities;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Council of the Municipality of the District of Guysborough declares the month of February as “African Heritage Month” in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough.
