CLC Grand Opening Press Release

June 29, 2018 (Guysborough, Nova Scotia) – Today the Municipality of the District of Guysborough celebrates the grand opening of the new Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex.  This Complex has created a recreation and education campus destination not found anywhere else in Canada.
“The Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex is something we can all be proud of,” said Warden Vernon Pitts.  “This Complex is a reflection of the great quality of life in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough and is the result of the hard work and dedication of our Council, residents and everyone who was part of helping us reach this milestone today”.

In early 2017 Guysborough Municipal Council made the final investment decision to build the $11.5 million Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex receiving $3 million in joint federal-provincial funding through the Small Communities Fund and over $400,000 in community donations raised by the volunteers of the CLC Steering Committee.

“We are pleased to contribute to this important facility for families in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough,” said Municipal Affairs Minister Derek Mombourquette. “The Centre will offer opportunities for local residents to stay active and participate in community events.”

“Facilities like the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex are integral in promoting a healthy lifestyle and building a vibrant province,” said local MLA and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Lloyd Hines. “This complex will play a key role in supporting active living in our communities.”

“I am proud to be part of the grand opening of the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex, and to celebrate all of those who made this project possible. This complex will bring new fitness and community programming to Guysborough, connecting the community, and creating a better quality of life for its residents. By creating modern and interactive spaces to participate in sports and wellness activities, we are helping to promote active lifestyles while encouraging local economic activity.”  Rodger Cuzner, Member of Parliament for Cape Breton–Canso, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities
